2. Look towards the oil pan underneath your engine and find the oil drain plug. Place a basin underneath the plug and then allow the oil to drain out for roughly 15 minutes. Once the oil has completely drained, replace the plug.
3. Remove the oil filter with an oil filter wrench. Make sure to capture excess oil with the basin.
4. Take your new filter, and rub some oil around the rubber seal. This makes your filter watertight and is essential.
5. Set the new filter in place, then tighten it by hand. 
6. Now that your old oil is drained and you’ve replaced the oil filter, remove the oil cap. Pour in the specified amount of new oil recommended by your owner’s manual. Replace the oil cap.
